    Dodger hitter should be SUSPENDED

The Dodgers best hitter should be suspended.

We all know he is one of the best hitters in baseball...but it does not change the fact that he is

guilty of throwing games the last couple of weeks in Boston.  When you dog it ...you change the

    outcome of the game.

Pete Rose is banned for life for gambling...BUT NEVER dogged it.

This guy should be suspended or fined.....his agent should be banned.

What are you talking about? He wasn't dogging it.. he was playing.. if you dont like the way hes playing, thats ur problem. One hitter cannot throw a game. Stop making excuses cuz u kno the Dodgers are makin it to the World Series. This isnt the 1918 Chicago White Sox.

Re: Dodger hitter should be SUSPENDED

Wow....so he was not dogging it....you are in a small minority who think that....he went down like a dog....so badly...his teammates voted 24 - 1 to get rid of him.  One of the best hitters in the game but teammates and management wanted him out of here....so much they paid the lazy bums salary.  You don't find fault in that.   Sad....maybe you just started following competitive sports.

Your name is appropriate...you are in the dark.

Richc I do not think that Manny should be suspended. He might hve been dogging it, but there is no way that they could prove that he was messing up our games. Heck, even if he was dogging it he did good enough to help us get to the playoffs for half a season. BTW I am going 2 take Dark Knights back on this and say he did not just start watching and paying attention to the sox and sports because last time I checked he has made 280 post and u hve made 2 so I ask u. Who has followed the sox and let their voice be heard more u or Dark Knight?????

You nailed this one.  It seems very clear to most of us that Manny was dogging it, at least at times.  But it would set a very dangerous precedent to try to apply some sort of penalty to this behavior.  For one thing, you can't really prove he was slacking intentionally, no matter how much circumstantial evidence we may have (like constantly trying to sick out of Skankee games).  It simply could never be enforced.  And then do we start trying to fine players every time they have an off month?

He may in fact get a very generous contract after this season, but don't be surprised if it's laden with performance incentives.  Any owner with an IQ over 90 will want that, having witnessed Manny's recent career.  That, and probably never having his number retired, will be Manny's "punishment."

I dont really agree with his number never being retired.. He has helped the Red Sox win 2 (soon to be 3) World Championships. Obviously someone will retire one of the greatest hitters in the games number. He has really stepped it up this year, combining his stats, he hit 37 HRs.. thats pretty good for som1 who is 35 years old.

Re: Dodger hitter should be SUSPENDED

FWIW, Professional sports are full of "STARS" that were lousy people...but still good at ewhat they did..between the lines..but...guys in the past that did what Manny did..got canned..Jimmy Piersall vs Casey Stengal a case of two Clown Princes butting heads..casey had a sparrow under his hat when he went to the plate..Piersall ran the bases backwards..not from 3rd to 1st but running backwards(his 100 homer???) But when he went to the plate and closed a his eyes and swung and missed at 3 pitches that were closer to 1st base than home plate..he got canned! Manny should have been benched a long time ago..the first year he came to Boston..he couldn't play because his legs were bad..so he was the DH...but...his legs healed on his way home every night!  The guy can hit..but as a person..he was and is...lacking! he wears out his welcome at a shorter interval wherever he goes..it took a while in Cleveland..a little less in Boston and(NOW YOU CAN GASP) there is a very real chance he is out of baseball next year. His savior may be a cut rate contract or a Steinbrenner type doing personality rehabs instead of drug rehabs!

Steinbrenner doing personality rehabs there's a good one huh? That's sort of like asking Jimi Hendricks to get you into the Betty Ford clinic.

Re: Dodger hitter should be SUSPENDED

Manny was not Dodging it in Boston. Manny was being Manny and he is the best. I hope to see a Red Sox vs. Dodgers World Series. Manny will be happy even if he loses. Because he gets a ring no matter what because he played at least half of the season. John Henry would even give him one if it was up to him because when David Ortiz was out who helped the Red Sox win Games Manny Ramirez now if he stopped playing on those games we would be like the Yankees out of the Postseason all wins count. Last time I checked The Season started in April not July 31st.

Re: Dodger hitter should be SUSPENDED

John, You must have a TV with a filter on it...I don't know what games you were watching..but it was everybody but Manny who stepped up when Papi went down..#1 was J.D. Drew and some guy who answers to the name "Youk" stepped into the #4 hole and ate up the AL...not to mention a couple of kids up from Pawtucket who gave a lot more than was expected of them...and..how about the guy that Ozzie Guillen called a "jockey" as in "I never thought I would have to walk a jockey" Take a peek back at the last 3 years and check Manny's "contributions" after the All-Star break. He has had a July/August case of "EYE" trouble every year...."EYE TROUBLE" in as Manny can't see going to work..........I've been around baseball since 1946 in one form or another from a short stint in the minors to the various amateur leagues..as a player or as a coach and I have never..ever seen a player "dog" it..no downright quit on his team as Manny did this year. The late baseball "oddball" owner Charles Finely had a guy who did the same things...thinking his "STAR" entitled him to dictate team policy and rules and perorming in much the same way(actually 2 of them) Reggie being Reggie got him sent down to the minors..something that really let the air out of his ego and in the long run made him a better ballplayer..the other was the first "real" free agent..Finely fired this guy for thinking he was the "Boss"  Ken "Hawk" Harrelson was cut loose in mid season for "attitude" issues...but the Sox...RED ones in desperate need...signed him for the remaining games in that season.for the then unheard of price of $10,000..the next year he tore the cover off the ball for Boston..but  his attitude got him canned from a team in need of all the "Star" power it could get..they shipped him off to Cleveland...where a questionable play at 2nd base broke his leg and basically ended his career(I was in OHIO then and the public's take? Serves the SOB right!  Point is.Manny being Manny is nothing new and has been dealt with via trade or outright release or by being shipped down..the only thing that mystifies me is how the rest of the world thought that this guy is an asset.....................Baseball has lived on after better players than Manyy have gone south..it will be a better game when he is out of it!

    John Cena:

Yea... I understand Manny was just trying to stick up for his team... but he really didn't have to go charging the mound that time... if he just shut up... the Pedro- Zimmer brawl wouldn't have happened. Although... Zimmer was the one coming at Pedro first, so Yankee fans shouldn't complain.

Oh... I most point out that it makes me smile to see a clean- cut Manny Ramirez... with short hair, I admit I couldn't stand his locks!!! Damon's hair didn't bother me soo... much, but I wish Manny cut his!!
